Shona Scallan Psychologist is a Consulting Psychologist who is a member of the Australian Psychological Society (APS) and Resolution Institute.

Shona works with children, adolescents, adults and families.

 

Shona is solution focused and typically expects to see measurable improvement between three and seven sessions - of course depending on the nature and severity of the problem.

Shona works collaboratively with referring doctors and families (with client's consent) with referrals coming from GP's, psychiatrists, paediatricians, neurologists, educational institutions and insurance institutions.

The support staff have been selected for their competence, integrity and interpersonal skills so clients can expect a respectful, friendly and professional response to their queries.

 

Practice Facilities

The Jindalee Medical Centre and the Joondalup office offers modern, comfortable and private facilities in a professional, relaxed and friendly atmosphere.

  • Saturday and some Sunday consultations are held at the Joondalup Office

  • Monday, Thursday and Friday consultations are held at the Jindalee Medical Centre

Ethos and Methods

 

Shona believes that the psychological wellness of clients is a collaborative effort between her knowledge and skills coupled with the client's willingness to bring their strength, hope and experience to the therapeautic process.

Clients are encouraged to practice coping strategies to more effectively manage their feelings, thinking and behaviour, as well as developing insight and understanding of themselves and their issues.

Specialised treatments such as Cognitive Behaviour Therapy (CBT), Interpersonal Psychotherapy (IPT), Play Therapy, Narrative Therapy and other clincially proven therapies are used as appropriate to best service indivdual need and achieve maximum success in the shortest possible time frame. Shona Scallan is the owner and Principal Psychologist within the practice. Her clinical specialites are with adults, children and their familes who are impacted by anxiety or depressive disorders, relationship and interpersonal challenges, or serious mental illness. Other areas of interest include adoption and fertility issues, workplace injury and the assessment thereof, adolescent mental health and general wellness.

 

Shona Scallan uses evidence-based and clinically proven therapies (Psychological Therapies) and maintains a wide ranging program of professional and personal development.

Shona has acted in various capacities as a consulting psychologist, where she managed and supported other clinicians to deliver a high level of professional service. Shona has had considerable life experience and combines her wealth of knowledge, skill and experience with her client's strength, hope and experience to assist them to achieve their goals.
